A project proposal was handed over the Chief Minister of Northern Provincial Council based on developing the income generation ways of the women headed families in Mannar and Jaffna districts on 14th of February 2015. 

The project proposal was prepared by National Fisheries Solidarity Movement with the support of district coordinators and leaders.  The information of women headed families who live in 4 camps and 2 villages in Jaffna district and the information of 172 women headed families in 07 villages in Mannar district have been included to the project proposal.  The purpose of preparing this project proposal is to find potential support to develop the income generation activities of the women headed families in above two districts. 

The project proposal was handed over the secretary of the Chief Minister of Northern Provincial Council.

Miss. Lavina Hasanthi, Women coordinator of National Fisheries Solidarity Movement, Mr. Imbayagama, District Coordinator of District Fisheries Solidarity in Jaffna, 
Miss, Darmalingam Chithra ,  Animator of  District Fisheries Solidarity in Jaffna and 
Mr. N.V  Subramaniam, participated this occasion. 












The celebration of world women day was organized by “ Valarpirei” district committee of women headed families at Mannar on 9th of March 2015.

The world women day celebration was used to voice out the women strength to ensure the rights of women headed families who live in 13 villages consisting of two divisional secretariat divisions at Mannar district. This event was organized simultaneously world women day on 8th of March. 
The women coordinator of National Fisheries Solidarity Movement expressed the objective of the program. After that, the women headed families shared their experiences about the issues they face. They mentioned that they were able to strengthen because of the involvement of “Walarpirei”  women headed committee. The women headed families developed the capacities to work with the governmental officers, political parties to find the solutions for their issues. The women have strengthened enough to come forward and appear over their view without any fear. And they said that National Fisheries Solidarity Movement has supported to build up their economic background. 

As the next session, the women police officer educated the women on legal protection of the women and women rights according her experience.
The District Secretary advised to continue the process of women headed families as a strong committee while explaining the government’s plans to solve the problems of women headed families as a governmental officer. 

The view of the Assistance Director of Education was that there were two way intervention of National Fisheries Solidarity Movement to strengthen the women headed families as involve to ensure the women rights and develop the economic situation of the women headed families who are living in Mannar district.

Priyantha, animator of district fisheries solidarity in Mannar participated to the world women day celebration.
