National Fisheries Solidarity Movement assisted for selected 20 women headed families in Killinochchi on 14 of October 2019. They are members of the “ Arumbu” district committee in Killinochchi. 20 beneficiaries were selected according to the criteria. It assisted to the women headed families in order to develop their existing income generation activities further. The program was held based on the International Rural Women Day. The purpose of this program is to ensure the food sovereignty of the women headed families in the grass root communities.
According to the program, we provided various assistance for the women headed families to develop animal husbandry giving goats, chicks and cows. Nets and related equipment were provided to develop the fisheries industry. Goods were given to some women headed families to develop their small scale shops. It tries to enhance the income of the women headed families as well as other aspects of the family.
